My Emacs Key Binding Strategy

submitted by murdsdrum to emacs [link] [comments]

Alright, so let's talk Binding strategies.

I'm in need of some help from fellow players on beating the pantheons with everything bound. I'm stuck on Pantheon 3 right now, because THE COLLECTOR is a total nightmare under these restrictions. Way too much health, very little SOUL (which is your main damage dealer, the nail is so weak that your void spells are 5x its damage in the worst of cases) and minions that really start to stack up if you aren't devoting all your attention to them as opposed to the boss. Any good ideas on how to beat this guy in less than 10 minutes?
In return, I have some advice for others wanting to try this same challenge: as I mentioned above, spells are your bread and butter here. If you're a nail-fighter, start getting used to fighting with spells primarily, they're all you have that isn't crippled to hell by bindings. Abyss Shriek in particular is extremely helpful.
Next, here's a boss specific one, Oro and Mato have been, so far, the most difficult fight while all-bound. Sheo's kind of a little puppy compared to them, given he staggers and every attack comes in isolation. Here's some tips to beat them:
In phase 1 with just Mato, try to nuke him down as fast as possible. If you get hit, DON'T heal, because unless you time it PERFECTLY with a jump slash of his, you are NEVER perfectly safe. If you're down two masks you can try and risk it, but it's just that; a risk. Please try to hold off until the start of phase 2 to heal, and instead use Abyss Shriek on the floor behind him after he jump slashes. The outer edges of the hitbox should still get him, and there's enough time to dash away safely. If you punish every jump slash with abyss shriek, this phase shouldn't be more than a minute tops.
Next, when his brother drops in, dreamnail him during the intro. If you're fast, you can also heal before they roar.
Phase 2, stop using the Abyss Shriek strategy unless you have a big opening, it's no longer safe with the other brother involved, especially since getting between them is a dangerous thing to do. Instead, shade soul them both as much as you can, and never stick around in front of any of them. Punish once after an attack, back up, repeat until you can cast.
The biggest piece of advice I can give is that Mato's cyclone slash is finally your chance to heal. Oro really does not like getting involved when his brother does it, and hangs back until he's done. This means that if you have enough room to back up, or less preferably dash under Mato as he ascends, you can almost always recover a mask. The problem then becomes, how do you know which is which? It's positioning. the Dash Slash always comes from the very edge of the arena, Cyclone slash can happen from anywhere, so if a brother charging looks to be anywhere other than the one spot Dash Slash can come from, you can identify it as a consistent healing chance.
Enough with that book, though. Help me manage the Collector, if anyone has advice!

WHM Healing on PSx: UI screenshots, bind strategies and macros

TL;DR: share your UI arrangements, button-binds, usage of L->R->L, useful macros and general tips to help me becoming a better healer :3
I'm moving from BLM to WHM and decided to focus first on gearing my healer. I healed Syrcus and WoD and it was very stressful (I don't know if it was just the party).
The most difficult thing: cross alliance healing. Maybe macros? On PS4 I have the touch pad, but still sux to heal like that...
Thanks! :)

Conclusion after the answers:

Last night I played and used some of the advices given in this thread. Thanks everyone, it was a big difference!
For ppl who might have the same question as I had in the future, I'm sharing my current HUD setup: http://imgur.com/a/r3eYx
The Cleric instance is are two macros (on/off, respectively)
 /macroicon "Cleric Stance" /ac "Cleric Stance" /chotbar change 2 /macroicon "Cleric Stance" /ac "Cleric Stance" /chotbar change 1
When I cast Cleric Stance on crossbar 1, it changes to 2; then, when I want to get back to healing, it goes back to 1 <3
Also, I'm using L3 as assist target: very neat when I need to heal the MT and it's not on my alliance or cast Eye for an eye w/o relying on macros.
The most important thing about the cross-alliance healing/raising was the L(1/B)+D-pad Left and Right navigation usage. It was just godsend!
Again, thanks so much! :)
EDIT: the /thread for me xD (I don't know if this is the reddit way of editing things... :B)

Inverting the enantiopreference of nitrilase‐catalyzed desymmetric hydrolysis of prochiral dinitriles by reshaping the binding pocket with a “mirror‐image” strategy

Nitrilase‐catalyzed desymmetric hydrolysis of prochiral dinitriles is an attractive method for the synthesis of chiral cyanocarboxylic acids, the precursors to pharmaceutically important g‐amino acids. However, the tested nitrilases towards 3‐alkyl‐ or aryl substituted glutaronitriles mostly generate ( S )‐configurated cyanocarboxylic acids. Herein a “mirror‐image” strategy, i.e. symmetry analysis of substrate‐binding pocket, was applied to identify two key amino acid residues W170 and V198 that possibly modulate the enantiopreference of a nitrilase from Synechocystis sp. PCC6803 towards 3‐isobutyl glutaronitrile ( 1a ). Exchange of these two residues resulted in the enantiopreference inversion ( S , 90% ee to R , 47% ee ). By further reshaping the substrate‐binding pocket via routine site‐saturation and combinatorial mutagenesis, variant E8 with higher activity and stereoselectivity (99% ee , R ) was obtained. The mutant enzyme was applied in the preparation of optically pure ( R )‐3‐isobutyl‐4‐cyanobutanoic acid (( R )‐ 2a ), and showed similar stereopreference inversion towards a series of 3‐substituted glutaronitriles. This study may offer a general strategy to switch the stereopreference of other nitrilases and other classes of enzymes toward the desymmetric reactions of prochiral substrates with two identical reactive functional groups, that are often desirable in asymmetric synthesis.

Binding of Isaac: Four Souls Character Strategy

This is a first draft: if you have anything you would like to add, please comment below!
So I have had this game for a few months now and compared to facing against my friends, my luck has always been on the downside despite what character I play (not counting Bone).
So I have been constructing a strategy in order for new players or others that have to rely on more skill than RNG.
WARNING: THIS IS A STRATEGY FOR MOSTLY RNG GAME. BECAUSE THESE ARE WRITTEN DOWN AND CAN BE FOLLOWED DOESNT MEAN THEY WILL WORK EVERY TIME.
Here's the first draft of character strategies:

Forgotten- Grabbing as many items that can recharge your stuff as possible, whether its loot batteries or treasure batteries. The main way to get far is SAVING THE BONE CHARGES! Every 2 charges do 1 damage to an enemy and if you can find ways to recharge that items makes it less and less of a hassle every time. (the best scenario for this is having shovel with fat bat already defeated so you can mill the treasure deck.)
Samson- There can be 2 approaches to this to be as effective as possible.
Isaac- Dice manipulation or dice reward. Isaac is gonna throw around a lot of dice and that's how he stays alive. Being able to get treasures that can change the outcome of a die roll, re-roll the dice completely, or getting rewards for hitting certain dice numbers is going to keep you from being behind in the game. In my opinion, the more rewards the better. If your luck is bad, save the dice for one of your opponents.
Eve- This is the harder one to have a "strategy" for. The closest thing you can get to a powered up game is loot deck rearrangement (get the map and cain's eye). The offensive strategy is keeping the bad loot items circulating throughout the hands of the players (would recommend batteries if you have 3+ additional people playing). Grabbing compost will help you keep the circulation of bad items flowing (and could potentially snag you a good item). This is a character you will have to play smart so you can generate souls without taking big risks.
Lazarus- BUM RUSH THE MONSTER DECK AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. This generates 1 treasure items at the cost of 1 penny and an item card, definitely worth it. Afterwards, grab another treasure as quickly as possible so you can juggle what your keeping and what youre losing. If most ideal strategy is getting another treasure every turn or every other turn so you can gauge your strength and die (if need be) to remove the weak links. Treasures are very powerful and this is a very flexible character.
???- This actually worked on me so I'm speaking from experience. Steal other players coins and loot. Guppys head and blue fly will keep your opponents on the weaker side when it comes to consumables. Finding a way of taking damage consistently will make you VERY rich, so long as you have the health to do it. The focus is taking as much as possible (even if you WANT to die. this is worth it.) so you can keep taking from your opponents and wait until they eventually die as well because after the first death, they will be playing keep up with you. keeping blue fly and guppys head charged will be the keys to the kingdom for you.
Lilith- Succubus has 2 abilities
  1. Looking at another players hand and may swap 1 of your loot cards with theirs
  2. drawing 1 loot and putting 1 loot card back on top.
I will explain each ability with their own strategy.
  1. This is a good way to keep track of what cards your opponents are playing (because knowledge is half the battle; while the other half is incredible violence). And this benefits greatly because you can pay 1-2 pennies (technically) for the death, stars, other any other card they could have. I dont recommend keeping the item charged because the 1 time use has all the advantage you could ever know.
  2. This keeps you informed about what youre going to be getting next. If its a good card, fight a monster who will give you loot as a reward. Be sneaky enough and players wont catch on for awhile. having cards that allow you to loot off-beat will keep your hands full with the right kind of loot. I do recommend keeping the item charged for this ability as it can truly change the tide of the game.
The 2nd half of the item has more potential power than ability 1 but ability 1 has more knowledge of your competition.
Judas- While the Bone is noticeably better than the book of Belial, theres one thing this book can do, cause dice to go down. By itself I only recommend using it if: youre gonna get a treasure, prevent your death, cause another player death. Getting The Battery and Charged Baby will keep your competition nervous and get your soul generation flowing. Batteries and a +1 damage are a must (especially facing off against the bone).
Cain- Since active items recharge before drawing, you can activate it to see what loot your gonna be dealt. The only time you should use it for treasure is when you have 10 coins (since no one else can buy on your turn) to maximize your odds of getting a good treasure items, monster deck when you are not liking what are in the active slots and haven't seen a chest in awhile (assuming they aren't discarded). Keeping 1 or 2 batteries in your hand is more than enough to get you going for the marathon since you'll be handing bad loot to players and try to keep the good ones for yourself. Also, you get to go first, congratulations. UTILIZE THIS.
Maggy- Being able to absorb 1 damage per turn is incredibly nice early game. You can take the bigger risks early on (especially if you have nothing to lose). For Maggy, you want to be the "tank essentially" the more health you have you always have a +1 to. This will allow you to prolong fights, which can ultimately end up in your favor. You have the best chance early game to fight a +2 damage monster and walk away damaged and a victor. Pair this with damage reduction items and you are cruising for a long long time. Host hat is the ideal treasure for you.
Eden- Theres a reason to save this for last, simply because you have no idea what your eternal item could be. It can be as great as Midas touch, or as bad as dead cat (just looked through the treasure deck. You will have more good than bad). Essentially, whatever your treasure card is, you can apply a similar strategy to the ones above but as an overall tip: Higher damage and attack counts and/or loot card generation or manipulation is a good thing.

Question to Community about my Forest Support

Currently, I have Mami up as my Forest Support for the typical double Mami bind strategy. However, I just four slotted my Nemu and I'm debating on switching her in since she seems more versatile for harder stages.
I would assume people would still want Mami since the double Mami strat is still extremely convenient for most battles. However, I want to ask the community what they'd like to see. Whomever does not get chosen in the forest slot will be cycled through my All slot list.
Below are some general pros and cons...
Mami
Pros - Damage up boost and stun on connect, Double Mami strat, AoE magia that could bind and burn, Holy Quintet Member
Cons - Harder bosses are immune to stun, Less HP and Defense compared to Nemu, Plethora of Mamis already on the field
Nemu
Pros - Attack up boost with heal and bewitch on connect (harder bosses seem to not be immune to bewitch), Accele gorilla, Magia has guaranteed charm/curse/darkness/remove buffs on boss and attack up boost to team, Less of her on the field
Cons - Single target magia, Less attack power compared to Mami
--I will wait until the end of today before deciding to allow as many folks to see this post as possible--
Edit: Thank you for your comments. It seems like there was an overwhelming amount of support for Nemu. So, Nemu will now fill my forest support slot.

SUBJECT: Respecting space - Rules, consequences and potential meeting on DAY MONTH YEAR - DO NOT REPLY TO THIS EMAIL
Dear Mum and Dad,
Over the preceding weeks, I have respectfully requested you to grant me space while I work on my career and life. I have said that this request is for me, and not directed against you. I have said several times now that I will reach out to you when I am ready. Clearly, you have not respected this request or boundary at all. Instead, you have continued contacting me via phone call and messaging on a near-daily basis. I have politely asked you to refrain from doing this several times. As a result, I have not enjoyed space. I have had enough.
So I am laying down strict rules, consequences and the possibility of a physical meeting given successful compliance. These rules are final and if breached by you, will result in consequences. Please read carefully, as follows:
1. Requested Behaviours
You will refrain from:
(a) Calling my telephone number;
(b) Messaging my telephone number via WhatsApp, text message or other like service;
(c) Leaving voice messages on my telephone voicemail service;
(d) E-mailing me at my e-mail address;
(e) Coming to my apartment and/or immediate surrounding area to confront me;
(f) Threatening to come to my apartment and/or immediate surrounding area to confront me;

(h) Proposing times for us to speak on the telephone;
(i) Sending or leaving letters at my home address;
(j) Talking or otherwise communicating with me in any way, shape, or form;
(k) Engaging in any related or like conduct, whether by act, omission or threat; and
(l) Requesting or sending third party persons or organisations to engage in any of 1(a)-(k).
Note: Items 1(a)-(l) apply to both Mum and Dad equally.
2. Compliance and Proposed Physical Meeting
(a) If you successfully Comply with the Requested Behaviours, I agree to meet with both of you on DAY MONTH YEAR (Meeting Date).
(b) I will contact you 3 days prior to Meeting Date to confirm particulars such as location and time. Selecting location and time of the meeting remains at my sole discretion.
(c) Power to determine Compliance pursuant to 2(a) remains at my sole discretion.
3. Consequences for Breach
(a) Each Breach of any of Items 1(a)-(l) will result in a postponement of Meeting Date to precisely two weeks later (availability permitting);
(b) Postponement of Meeting Date may take into account numerous Breaches cumulatively; i.e. two Breaches would postpone Meeting Date from 9 August 2020 to 6 September 2020;
(c) Breaches of Item 1(e)-(f), (l) may (i) be accorded longer postponement periods (ii) result in indefinite postponement or (iii) result in cancellation of Proposed Physical Meeting;

(e) Numerous breaches will increase likelihood of my adopting Items(1)(a)-(l) as my own behaviours towards you for a period of time to be determined at my sole discretion; and
(f) Power to determine Breaches and consequences referred to in 3(a)-(e) remains at my sole discretion.
Note: you will be notified following each Breach and informed of new date of Proposed Physical Meeting where applicable.
***
I sincerely hope you comply with the Requested Behaviours and thereby grant me the space that I have requested. If so, I look forward to meeting with you both on DAY MONTH YEAR.
